All of our hunts take place in Game Management Unit 29, located in the rugged Salmon-Challis National Forest. This area offers ideal terrain and habitat for elk, black bear, mountain lion, and mountain goat.
We hunt a mix of timbered draws, steep ridges, and high alpine basins, accessing the backcountry by foot, horseback, or 4×4 depending on the season and species. GMU 29 offers low pressure and strong game populations, making it a prime spot for serious hunters.
There’s a small amount of paperwork you’ll need to complete before your hunt with Big Timber Outfitters LLC, some required by us and some by the state of Idaho. Taking care of it early helps keep your hunt stress-free and ensures everything is in order when you arrive. If you have any questions about what’s needed, we’re always here to help you get it squared away.
It’s our job to get you — and your harvest — safely out of the woods. Once we’ve done that, it’s your responsibility to handle meat processing and taxidermy. We do work closely with reputable local businesses that we’re happy to recommend for both services. Just ask, and we’ll point you in the right direction so you can make the most of your trophy and your meat.
